SECOND FLOOR– RENOVATED IN 1999-2000

Second Floor Hallway – 1999-2000 renovation sponsored by American Legion Post 173.
Second Floor Bathroom:
     Claw-footed bathtub was located under the window.
     Linen closet was to the left after entering the bathroom.

Miss Green’s Room (East Side)

Item to note: Originally Mr. & Mrs. Orr’s bedroom

 

This room was restored and decorated "In honor of Milton and Sylvia (Creviston) Green and Earle Green" by Mary Eloise Green.
 

Now used to display bedroom furniture, clothes, etc., from the Green family of East Liberty – all donated to the museum by Ms. Green.

 

 

Nursery - (East Side)

 
Restoration and decorating sponsored  by Jeff & Jannice Hall and sons "In honor of Fred and Alice (Dean) Bayliss and Paul and Mildred (Westfall) Hall ."

Items to note:
—Black walnut vanity believed to have belonged to the Orr Family.
—candlestick on vanity is from a child’s bedroom, ca. 1874.
—the baby walker.

 

East side Bedroom


Restoration and decorating sponsored by James K. Wood and Ralph A. Wood "In honor of Gus and Idola Kaylor", their grandparents.


Furnished in the style of the early 1800s

Items to note:
—the rope bed
—1862 sewing machine
—spinning wheel
—lady’s nightgown c. 1860-1865

 

Bedroom - (West Side)

Items to note:
—William Orr’s sister, Cecille, used this room.
—The sleigh bed.

Office

Restoration and decorating sponsored by Fred and Edith Eads "In memory of Isaac Newton Eads, 96th Regt. OVI, Civil War."

Items to note:
—Doors leading on to second floor balcony- Orr grandchildren slept out on balcony on warm summer nights

—The painting of the Civil War soldier and its unique frame featuring military and patriotic symbols

THIRD FLOOR BALLROOM

The Ballroom is reached by steep steps.
—Floor was of three kinds of inlaid wood (floors refinished in 1999.)
—Small tables were placed at each window.
—Formal dances and parties held here.
—Double doors led to third floor balcony for guests to get a breath of fresh air.
—The ballroom is currently used for temporary exhibits.
—The ballroom was restored in 1998 by the efforts of Professional Restoration, a Logan County business, and crews from The Logan County Human Services. It has been estimated that Professional Restoration’s donation of time and effort to the museum was worth some $25,000.00. To honor this, the Board dedicated the refurbished ballroom to Professional Restoration & Dennis Kuba, Company President.”
